Tattoo Removal Treatments

There are a lot of reasons for possibly wanting to have your tattoo removed.

The positive thing about tattoo removal is that you are no longer burdened with a tattoo you seriously regret. If a tattoo is holding you back from getting a job you want or keeps you from attaining goals you have set for yourself, a little pain and scarring may be worth it to you.

If you have a gang-related tattoo and are no longer associating yourself with that gang or any gang, it would be in your best interests to have it removed. If you have a tattoo that symbolises hate or prejudice, I hope that you will decide that it is time to let it go.

If you are wearing a tattoo of a past love and now you have a new special person in your life, it would be unkind to your new love not to get rid of the old tattoo. While the tattoo might have been meant to last forever, you don't have to live with a tattoo that you'd rather put in the past. At The Aesthetic Studio Clinic & Surgery, we utilise  state of the art laser tattoo removal to safely and effectively erase unwanted tattoos from your face and body.

Eyebrow tattoos, eyeliner tattoos, body art and birthmarks are all suitable areas for tattoo removal.

Traditional Tattoo Removal Techniques

Tattoo removal treatment has been performed with various tools during the history of tattooing. While tattoos were once considered permanent, it is now possible to remove them with treatments, fully or partially.

Before the development of laser tattoo removal treatment methods, commons techniques included dermabrasion, TCA (Treicholoracetic Acid), an acid that removes the top layers of skin, reaching as deep as the layer in which the tattoo ink resides), Salabrasion (scrubbing the skin with salt), Cryosurgery and  Excision which is sometimes still used along with skin grafts for larger tattoos.

Some early forms of tattoo removal treatment included the injection or application of wine, lime, garlic or pigeon excrement.

Tattoo Removal by Laser

Tattoo removal by laser was performed with continuous-wave lasers initially, and later with Q-switched lasers, which became commercially available in the early 1990s. Today, "laser tattoo removal" usually refers to the non-invasive removal of tattoo pigments using Q-switched lasers. Typically, black and darker-colored inks can be removed more completely.

At The Aesthetic Studio, tattoo removal treatment utilises the Spectra™ Q-Switched Nd:YAG laser. This laser emits quick, high-intensity focused pulses of a very specific wavelength light that is highly absorbed by the pigment in the tattoo ink. The Nd:YAG laser energy breaks down only the pigment in the skin so it can be absorbed by the body, while protecting the surrounding tissue from harm. This is so far one of the best treatment laser treatment for tattoo removal we have experienced by our patients.

Tattoos will begin fading after a single tattoo removal treatment. However, laser tattoo removal treatment is a gradual process that usually takes a series of 4 to 10 laser tattoo removal treatments, depending on the size of your tattoo, colours, depth, and type of ink used. Treatments are spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart and while some tattoos cannot be removed completely, most can at least be lightened significantly.

The Aesthetic Studio Singapore Clinic & Surgery provides removal of various types of tattoos - professional, cosmetic, coloured, traumatic and surgical tattoos. Our laser systems can significantly lighten or completely remove your tattoo, without harming the surrounding healthy cells. Blue, brown, black and possibly other colours of tattoo pigment, certain brown/black pigmented growths and birthmarks of the skin are best treated by laser systems.

The number of treatments required may vary depending on the type of lesion, size, location, color, age of the patient and age of the tattoo. In general tattoos may be removed in two to four visits, though more sessions may be necessary depending on the specific situation. Treatments are spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart, to allow your body to expel the maximum amount of tattoo pigment after each treatment.

Eyebrow tattoos, eyeliner tattoos, body art and birthmarks are suitable areas for tattoo removal. Make an appointment to discuss your treatment options with our experienced aesthetic doctors.
