What is AGNES

AGNES is a radio frequency energy-based aesthetic and medical treatment system developed by a Korean dermatologist Dr. Gun Young Ahn. The device combines insulating coated micro needle designed for different depth of skin with precise pulse and duration control of radio frequency energy to precisely target the sebaceous gland (which cause acne), blackheads, syringomas, wrinkles and fat under the eyes and chin. With the needles engineered to a precise depth, they will protect other structures in the skin and also the epidermis during the treatment resulting in minimal down time and side effect such as pigmentation.

The AGNES uses radio frequency energy to contract skin and unwanted fatty tissue through the specially designed needle system that precisely deposit the right amount of energy in a safe and effective manner to the skin or below the skin.

AGNES Addresses These Issues

Acne Comedones and Blackheads

The AGNES device allows Selective Sebaceous Gland Destruction, that precisely targets and destroys the sebaceous gland, without thermal injury to the surface skin epidermis; Providing a permanent solution to chronic recurring acne.

The AGNES Acne treatment is effective as it targets the root of the problem. Because acne is an inflammatory disorder of the hair follicle arising from sebaceous glands, destruction of these sebaceous glands effectively reduces acne.

Once the sebaceous glands are destroyed, acne subsides and is unlikely to recur. Less than 10% of acne recurred within a year after the final treatment session , making this a truly effective long term solution for acne.

Wrinkles and Finelines

Wrinkles are a universal ageing concern and those around the eye area can be specifically hard to hide with cosmetics.

AGNES works by inserting the radio frequency micro-needle along fine lines and deliver heat and radio frequency waves to heat skin tissue and stimulates collagen remodelling and production in the skin.

It restores the skin to its youthful elastic and replenishes collagen. Wrinkles and crow’s feet are noticeably smoothen out and reveal a more youthful skin. AGNES is also more effective and permanent periorbital wrinkles treatment than botox or filler injection.

Eye Bags

Caused from gravity, natural ageing, lack of sleep or lifestyle choice, eye bags can make you look chronically exhausted and aged.

AGNES can be used to treat eye bags by inserting radio frequency micro needles along the contours of the eye bags and release heat and radio frequency at a controlled pulse length to destroy fat cells inside the eye bags at the right depth.

Afterwards, a different needle will be used to target sagging and wrinkles skin in the eye bags areas.

Frequently Asked Question About AGNES

How does AGNES work?

The treatment uses radio frequency (RF) micro-insulated needles to prompt deep skin repairs and restoration. For eye bags and wrinkles, first our doctor will mark the target treatment areas. Then anaesthetic cream will be applied to the treatment area around 20 minutes before the procedure. In the case of eye bag treatments and deeper treatments, local anaesthetic injections may be used in addition to the anaesthetic gel. Then, a micro-insulated needle is inserted in the treatment areas and an electric current is delivered to the targeted skin level.

How is this different from other eye treatment?

AGNES is fast and minimally invasive and able to penetrates deeply to target the source of the problem. Unlike superficial treatments, you can expect noticeable and lasting results. The treatment won’t result in scars or scabs and involves minimal downtime.

How long does the treatment take?

Depending on the the condition of the treatment, it can take between 30 to 60 minutes.

What is the recovery time / down time for AGNES treatment?

Treatments for acne, acne scar, syringomas and blackheads, patients may experience mild redness for 1-3 days and can be covered with make up. No specific aftercare is needed for these procedures.

For deep lines and eye-bags with more intensive treatment, the downtime is between 7 - 10 days where patients will experience some swelling, redness and bruising which will slowly disappear. Patients may be able to cover the redness and swelling 4 days after the treatment. Occasionally after heavy treatments there may be numbness and hypersensitivity of the treated area for up to 4 weeks.

After the treatment, patients can apply ice pack on the treatment area every half hour to reduce discomfort and minimise the swelling. Some medication can be prescribed by the doctor to minimise discomfort.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO SEE THE EFFECT OF THE TREATMENT?

For deep wrinkles and eye bags, about 1-2 weeks after you have mostly recovered, the area may actually look “worse” than it did before the procedure, which is normal. Most of the benefit appears over the coming months as new collagen is deposited under the skin and the skin begins to remodel its structure. For the treatment of eye bags, it will take 2-6 months for the fat cells to be removed by the body’s macrophages.

For acne, comedones, blackheads, and syringiomas the benefits may be within a few weeks. Similarly to wrinkles it may take up to 6 months to complete remodelling and remove damaged tissue.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

Benefits from a single treatment may be permanent but this does not mean you can treat everything in a single treatment. In some cases, two to three treatments may be needed to achieve the desired results. In the case of active acne, additional treatments should done between 6 weeks to 6 months after the initial treatment.  Results vary based on individual circumstances.
